Wedges are back!

Are you sick to death with painful soles at the end of the night? Are you familiar with the routine of gingerly removing your foot from a skyscraper heel, ready to embrace the pain as you flatten it out? Had enough of sinking into grass as you quickly hop across that ‘shortcut’? Lucky for us the wedge is back! Famously known as Kate Middleton’s choice of footwear, the leg-elongating shoe is in this summer and here to stay!

Wedges can come more or less completely flat, almost like a platform, or you can really vamp it up with a 6-7” heel for some va-va-voom. What’s more, there’s a vast array to choose from; wooden heels, chunky straps, dainty crossover straps, various buckles or even a shape cut out of the wedge itself. One thing I’m confident in is their cosmopolitan look and the sheer ability to take the casual skinny jean to fabulous new heights.

Wedges are naturally easier to walk in and as an added bonus, help to enhance definition and shape to heavier ankles. As a general rule of thumb the chunkier the heel the smaller your calf will look, so if you have slender legs you may want to opt for a more delicate wedge. The 1-2” heel is a lower key option for those of you who are seeking extra comfort or who already have mile long pins.

Where colour is concerned, there are many smarter office or even wedding styles available, but why not try this summer’s trending colours; turquoise, yellow, orange and pink. Open toed versions are also widely available should you want to coordinate your perfect pedicure. Whilst on the opposite end of the spectrum, a platform boot is perfect for the unpredictable British weather, ensuring your toes stay warm and dry in any intermittent showers.

As if you haven’t guessed, I’m a huge fan of the wedge and cannot wait to reignite my love affair this summer. Should you need an image consultation to freshen up your look for the new season, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
