Try some animal print this A/W
Animal print is perennially popular especially as the season turns to autumn/winter. A bit of animal print is an easy way of adding interest to an outfit as it goes with everything from brown/black to denim to leather. However, it can be easy to get wrong – too much animal print and you risk looking like Bet Lynch. The wrong fabric can make the print look hard and it can even look ugly if the print is too bold.
There is a fine line between good and bad taste when chosing to wear this kind of print . There are certain associations with animal print – it’s a little trashy, camp yet sexy. It’s fierce but feminine – you have to accept these connotations when wearing it.
Simplicity and soft colours are key. The smaller the print the less flattering it is – always go for a large size print that sticks to 2-3 colours and never go for anything marbled! Overall, the rule is a little goes a long way. No more than one piece at a time. A belt, shoes, boots or bag is an easy way to wear the trend and quite sufficient to lift an outfit from/ ordinary to chic. Possibly a top, even trousers but bear in mind age and body type when choosing to encase your legs in this kind of print.
In every shop on the high street and beyond this season, there are articles of clothing and accessories in animal print. This season I’d recommend these heels from Vince Camuto at Kurt Geiger or these flats from Anne Klein also at Kurt Geiger…
Also try shirts from M&S and Wallis and scarves from Williams & Griffin:
For the less brave try this dress from Karen Millen…just a nod to animal print but certainly enough to get you noticed!
