A Little Bit About David Emanuel

A Little Bit About David Emanuel

With much of the nation’s focus set on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ I thought it might be an idea to talk a little bit about the fabulous David Emanuel, a designer, television presenter and author currently still in line to become King of The Jungle!

For those who aren’t avid Royalists or followers of the show, David Emanuel designed Princess Diana’s wedding dress. He’s appeared on countless television shows over the years and has designed clothes for British and European Royal Families, as well as countless famous women., including Joan Collins, Dame Shirley Bassey, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Dame Elizabeth Taylor, to name but a few.

David Emanuel managed to bag the job of creating Princess’s dress purely by chance. Meeting with an editor at British Vogue magazine led to him making dress upon dress for the Princess, before finally being given the much sought after job of designing the iconic wedding gown.

The dress David Emanuel and his ex-wife designed was made from ivory silk, pure taffeta and lace, antique of course! It included over 10,000 pearls and sequins and to complete the creation, an extravagant 25 ft. train; 5 times the height of the Princess. Contrary to popular opinion, there was no replica of the dress.

As well as being a fashion designer, David Emanuel has also designed sets for five year London Palladium Spectacular Cinderella and Frankenstein at the Royal Opera House. He’s also designed wardrobes for Andrew Lloyd Webber productions and the uniforms and accessories for both Virgin Airways (1991) and Britannia Airways (1999).

David Emanuel now designs gorgeous dresses for Bon Marche, the high street retailer, specialising in garments for the mature woman. His expertise in the industry has allowed him to create incredible, affordable and stylish designs that will last season after season.
